BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Texas State Aquarium connects people with animals, inspires appreciation for the seas, and supports wildlife conservation. The idea for the Texas State Aquarium was conceptualized by its founders early on to focus on the species in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.

Under the project management of Cliff Maxwell, I was given the task of designing the wayfinding directional signs and pylons as well as the brochure for the aquarium and the graphic animal icons. After a few design directions were discussed, the client ultimately decided on an option with a simplistic look using punches of bright colors and a method of using animal icons to identify different areas throughout the aquarium.
