HOLIDAY CARD

PENNEBAKER

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

I still like to show this project because it's so different from any other project I've worked on outside of college. Everyone at Pennebaker submitted concepts for that year's Christmas card. You have to understand, vampires were very popular between 2008-2012, and that is where my inspiration came from. The concept suggested that Santa was a possible vampire by convincing the audience that there were tell-tale signs to suggest such a strong suspicion, one clue at a time. My concept was eventually chosen, and I had the responsibility of designing the "card."

In the end, per management's request, the "card" actually turned into a mini book. I still look back at this project and feel as though more time was needed to fully flush out the illustrations. Each page is a hand-drawn, pen-and-ink illustration, and it was colored in Photoshop to save time. With that backstory in mind, it still turned into a pretty nice Christmas booklet! In fact, later, Pennebaker submitted it to the Houston ADDYS, and it received a citation of excellence.
